Born of Fire
VanMadrone Metalworks was born of fire in May of 1999. On a cool spring day I ventured to a neighbor's house in search of horse manure for which to fertilize my new garden. Little did I know that on this day I would meet an incredible artist blacksmith who would become my mentor. He would introduce to a world of art and metal that I had not known to exist. I spent the next year and a half learning the art of traditional blacksmithing in a small, dark, smoky shop. The craft was magical and mysterious. As soon as I would enter the shop and build a fire in the coal forge the rest of the world would just disappear and the only things that mattered from then on were the fire, the hammer, and the iron. nine years later I am still enthralled with this magical craft of old. It is so elemental, using earth, air, water, and fire to sculpt iron into works of art.
Today VanMadrone Metalwork LLC. offers a number of different and unique products including gates and railings, kitchenware, lighting fixtures (both candle and electric), security doors and window grilles, gardenware (arbors and trellis'), fireplace accessories (pits, tools, grates, doors and screens), business signs, wine racks, shelving units, coat and hat racks, sculpture, wall art, room dividers, and just about anything else you can dream up.
VanMadrone Metalworks offers free estimates. We are an eco-conscious company, using recycled materials whenever possible, and are producing wrought iron locally in Minneapolis Minnesota.
